SHAN NG

 

Shan was born and raised in Hong Kong. She studied Literature at the University of Hong Kong before relocating to London. She has been a director/producer at the BBC for eleven years. Her works have been broadcast on BBC 2, BBC World and BBC Radio 4.

 

Her first short film, Merry-Go- Round, was the winner of the Borough Film Fund Award, Film London. Her long short, …May Wong, was premiered in London Royal Opera House and screened at Hong Kong Arts Festival, Beijing International Film Festival and was invited to Verona Film Festival. Her theatre, The Pilgrimage of the Heart, funded by the Arts Council England, had a four-week run in London and Slough.

 

In 2022, her feature film, Second First Love was commissioned by Hong Kong Arts Development Council. In  2021, she directed the BBC Radio 4 drama, the Good Earth of two episodes.  In 2018, she was nominated for Best Director by BBC Audio Drama Awards for her debut Radio 4 drama, Tiger Girls. In 2017, another feature film, The Vanishing Time, was commissioned by Hong Kong Arts Development Council and selected in JETS, a co-production initiative during Berlin Film Festival 2018. In 2016, her feature project Nocturnal was selected by Film London Microwave Film Fund for development.
